About your dental crown consultation
Many Brisbane dental practices have to send you home with a temporary crown while they make your final restoration offsite. That’s two appointments, two rounds of local anaesthetic, and a week or two of living with a tooth that’s still mid-treatment.
At Wickham Terrace Dental, we do it in-house. Our CEREC technology lets us scan your tooth digitally, design the ideal crown on-screen, and mill it from a ceramic block right here in our Brisbane CBD lab. From first scan to final fit, all done in one appointment.
At your visit we'll:
Assess your tooth and walk you through your options. Plain English, no pressure.
Prepare the tooth and take a precise digital scan. No need for impression paste.
Use our CEREC machine to mill your custom ceramic crown in around 30 minutes.
Fit and cement the custom-made crown. That's it.
You walk out with your tooth restored and a ceramic crown made to last 10 to 15 years.

Does getting a dental crown hurt?
Thanks to local anaesthetic, most of our patients are surprised by how straightforward the whole thing is. If you have dental anxiety, just let us know — we’ll pace the appointment to make sure you’re comfortable.
How long will my dental crown last?
With proper care, CEREC porcelain crowns typically last for 10 to 15 years. Our friendly team will be happy to give you guidance on how to look after it.
Crown pricing depends on the tooth and your situation. We’ll give you a full quote at your consult. Payment plans start from $68 per week, and we also offer Afterpay, Zip, Humm, and Denticare.
Do I have to commit at the initial consult?
No. Come in, get the information, and decide in your own time.
Is one appointment really enough?
Yes. Because we design and create your crown on-site, there’s nothing to send away and wait for. Everything happens here, in one go.

Dr Andrew Teakle
Principal Dentist | BDSc (University of Queensland, 1994)
Our principal dentist Dr Andrew Teakle has more than thirty years of experience in dentistry, with a particular focus on ceramic crowns, dental implants, veneers, and full-mouth rehabilitation. With postgraduate qualifications in prosthodontics, orthodontics, and aesthetic and restorative dentistry, Andrew lectures for the dental industry on top of his clinical work.
He takes a whole-of-face approach to treatment planning, looking at facial harmony and smile aesthetics before zooming in on individual teeth. For your dental crown treatment, that means creating a result that suits you as a person, not just treating a tooth.
When he’s not in the clinic, Andrew is a published nature photographer with twelve books to his name. In and out of the practice, he works with style and precision.
